Datateam Business Media is delighted to announce that the Vendies 2017 EDWCA categories, which are open to bottled and mains fed water companies, are open for entries!
Working in partnership with the European Drinking Water Cooler Association (EDWCA), these categories have been designed to recognise and reward success, innovation and technology. They form part of prestigious The Vendies awards programme, which is organised by Datateam Business Media in conjunction with Vending International, the UK’s only magazine for the vending industry.
Which category fits you & your company?
The new categories and category descriptions below have been decided by the expert guidance of the EDWCA with the aim of accurately representing the industry today. You can enter as many categories as you want, as many times as you want – so if you have more than one product or engineer you wish to put forward, please do so! Field Service Engineer of the Year – Water
This category is for service engineers in the mains-fed and bottled water cooler industry. This award is aimed at recognising those individuals involved in installation, sanitation and breakdown of water dispensers at the sharp end of the business, working face-to-face with end-users, managing expectations and dealing with the realities of equipment in use.
Team Manager/Supervisor of the Year – Water
This category is for managers in the mains-fed and bottled water cooler industry. This award is aimed at recognising those individuals working with end-users and field engineers, managing expectations of both and dealing with the real time problems on a day-to-day basis.
Best Environmental Initiative – Water
This is open to suppliers and manufacturers in the mains-fed and bottled water cooler industry who have launched a project or initiative to improve their environmental and sustainability practice.
Best Innovation – Water
This is open to suppliers and manufacturers in the mains-fed and bottled water cooler industry who have launched an innovative product, product range or initiative in the past two years that has had a significant impact on business, customers and industry.

The Vendies, formerly the Vending Industry Awards, is the prestigious awards programme for the vending and water industry, designed to recognise and reward the success, innovation and technology of the past twelve months.
Organised by Datateam Business Media in conjunction with Vending International – the UK’s only magazine for the vending industry – The Vendies is now in its fifth year, and is an established and beloved fixture on the industry calendar. As in past years, it will provide a fantastic networking opportunity for everyone in the industry, as well as recognising and rewarding the top achievers in the sector over the past year.
The 2017 Vendies sees the return of the Operator Categories, alongside the established Supplier Categories – plus, of course, the prestigious Vending Industry Lifetime Achievement Award.
In response to feedback from the industry, organiser Datateam Business Media has introduced a number of new categories for this year’s awards. The categories have been designed to allow entrants to truly demonstrate the innovation and ingenuity of this vibrant industry, as well as being representative of the size and breadth of the sector.
Marketing Campaign of the Year: This category is for vending operators in the UK, aimed at companies that have shown creativity and passion in their marketing efforts, using a range of mediums and platforms to raise the profile of their business within their sector.
Customer Service Award – Operator & Supplier: With categories for both Operators and Suppliers, this award is aimed at ‘frontline’ staff – individuals and teams that deal with customers on site or on the telephone to problem-solve and give the customer the best possible experience of their company’s services.
Online Initiative of the Year: This award is open to suppliers to the vending and water industry in the UK who have launched an online initiative launched since 1st Janurary 2015. This could be anything from an online marketing campaign to an online customer service portal to an online ordering service.
The categories for Water companies will be announced on 6th March 2017.

The winners of this year’s Vendies were announced at a glittering gala luncheon in London yesterday. Hosted by film director, actor and presenter Ryan Philpott, over 150 members of the vending and water industries gathered at the 5* Chelsea Harbour Hotel to celebrate the success of the past 12 months. The event also raised generous sum for Demelza House Hospice Care for Children.
In the Vending categories, Best Hot Beverage went to Lavazza Coffee and Best Soft Drink, Berrywhite Organic Drinks. Best Machine Innovation (sponsored by Lavazza), went to Coffetek for its Button Barista App, while Nayax picked up the award for Best Payment System (sponsored by Siemens Financial Services), for its VPOS Card reader with telemetry and management system.
Burts Potato Chips had a successful night picking up two awards; Best Health & Well Being Product (Lentil Waves Thai Sweet Chilli) and Best New Product (sponsored by Suzohapp) for its Hobgoblin Spit Roast Steak. Best Snack/Confectionery Product went to KETTLE Chips for its Handy Packs, while Benders Paper Cups scooped Best Vending Cup. Siemens Financial Services was awarded Best Ancillary Service to the Industry.
In the water categories, the Best Environmental Initiative Project (sponsored by Coffetek) went to BRITA for Professional’s ongoing commitment to the environment, while 4 Aces Single Cup Dispenser was named Best Product Innovation.
Vending International’s Jenny Thompson heads up sponsorship for the Awards. She said: “It’s been a fantastic year for entries and voting, so congratulations to all of our winners. When The Vendies returns next year, it will include categories for operators, individuals, manufacturers and suppliers, as well as the prestigious Vending Industry Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Vendies are a celebration of everything the vending and water industries have to offer. Starting off with a champagne reception, followed by a delicious luncheon with wine, tickets have almost sold out as people are keen to be part of the awards. With music, entertainment, great food and the opportunity to catch up with industry friends old and new, it is more than just a ‘luncheon and awards’, it will be a day to remember.
